Although he has sailed a variety of vessels and holds a Master ticket, Jan spent most of his career in commercial roles, and he has a particular interest in advanced commercial optimization using latest technology.

She has 15 years of experience working with technology driven management both in private and public sector. Her area of responsibilities has mainly been in the interface between business and IT, as Head of IT or Head of Business Development. Before Kristin went into Shipping in 2018 she has been working with digital strategy and projects with a special focus on transformation within different business sectors, ranging from Consulting to Transportation. She has been used as strategic adviser in top management for choices of new platforms and modern solutions. Technology and new digital services brings challenges both to business culture and IT functions, but it also gives new opportunities to change traditional ways of working. Kristin truly believes that IT can be an important business driver in the digital transition Shipping is experiencing.

When she is not thinking of the next perfect solution, or what her two kids will be when they grow up, she challenges herself on the mat doing Bikram Yoga.

Joined Torvald Klaveness 2008 as VP Finance for the specialized dry bulk shipping division and later for Klaveness Ship Management.

Was appointed Vice President for Strategy and Business Development January 2013. During his tenure Klaveness changed its strategy to a highly digital driven strategy and re-booted its innovation spirit. Several innovation projects were started, one is today known as the software company Klaveness Digital, another led to a mUSD 300+ investment in next generation combination carriers currently being delivered from the shipyard.

Since April 2017 Lars Erik has been responsible for IT & Development and through transforming his team is now developing the core digital capabilities for an easier, more productive, and better informed work life for employees and customers alike.

Recently served as interim Chief Operating Officer being overall responsible for Maritime Operations in Torvald Klaveness, including Klaveness ShipManagement AS, Commercial Ship operation, Technical Projects & New Buildings, and IT &Development.

Previously worked 10 years in DNV GL with posting in South East Asia, Middle East and the Corporate Head Office in senior finance and management positions.

Carole joined OneWeb in 2018 with a background in satellite telecommunications and more than 20 years of business leadership and experience working across R&D and complex project management and product integration.

Carole has extensive knowledge of the Maritime sector based on her previous role at Inmarsat, where she was Senior Director of Digital Products and, prior to that, Director of Maritime Product Development, responsible for new software delivery from concept to launch.

At OneWeb, Carole’s focus is on developing global services for commercial launch that only a global satellite constellation network can uniquely support. Examples of these services include cyber-security, onboard IoT, logistics, hi-speed Broadband at sea, environmental, weather and market data-gathering.

Carole has an MSc in Engineering from the University of Toulon, an MSC in Aeronautics and Telecommunications from the Ecole Nationale de L’Aviation Civile, and a doctoral program degree from the University Paul Sabatier.

Stephen ConleyStephen’s position assumes overall commercial responsibility for SES Networks’ shared platforms globally, this includes the Skala Global Platform which enables high throughput connectivity services to maritime and mobility markets.

Having maintained an in depth understanding of the maritime market and ship owner and operator’s connectivity requirements, insights from Stephen and his team are used to drive the innovation input cycle for SES Network’s Product Line Management. This enables development and successful delivery of market-leading connectivity products and service solutions for the commercial shipping market and related logistics and transportation sectors.

Stephen joined SES in 2012, working first with the European development team in the Netherlands before relocating to Washington DC to head up Product Development for maritime. He is currently based in Miami, with a global responsibility to ensure uniqueness and market leading performance from globally deployed satellite enabled managed data platforms.

Previous experience includes a mixture of technical and business roles, including network operations, sales engineering, capacity procurement, asset management and yield management for the world’s most successful service providers and satellite operators.

Stephen holds a BSc Honours degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Glasgow University, and a Master’s in Business Administration from The Hague University.

Martin N. HjellMartin N. Hjelle is Head of Technology & Digital Strategy at Western Bulk, where he started in late 2017 and he is rather new to shipping. He has previously worked as Business Consultant helping many companies defining and implementing their digital strategy, teaching them how to innovate and how to handle and prepare for disruption.

Previously he has worked as a production engineer producing oceanographical sensors (typically used in large harbors), and as a software developer automating and simplifying the very same process as he was previously part of. Martin has a M.Sc degree in Industrial Economy and Technology Management with specialization in AI and Operations Research.
